TAHOE GABION HOUSE | Truckee, California

Scope of work included interior architecture and interior design. A thoroughly modern house for a family of six avid, year-round athletes at the base of Sugarbowl Resort community. This vacation house leverages natural materials, predominantly in the form of Gabion walls filled with local granite to maximize views of the mountains, and to accommodate large gatherings of family and friends.  The section takes full advantage of a slightly smaller lot, providing a bunk room and 5 bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, in addition to communal entertainment and AV spaces, with attendant rooms for contemplative time too.  Interior architecture focused on details to support the combined hyper modern and organic form of the Gabion walls, with flush detailing at door frames, baseboards and cabinetry throughout.  The scale of the rooms informed the furniture layouts and details.  Colors and patterns of the surrounding nature, along with an emphasis on hand-crafted items, inspired the palette for the interior selections of finishes and furniture.
